Obi Holly is an Emmy Award-winning television producer, cultural technologist, and entrepreneur whose work bridges entertainment, artificial intelligence, and African cultural heritage. As Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Het Ra Studios, he develops groundbreaking content at the intersection of technology and cultural authenticity.
Raised in an activist household in Washington, DC, Holly's foundation was built early, starting a computer club at age 12 to address technology gaps in his community and forming his first Go-Go band at 11. After studying film at Clark Atlanta University, he became a top producer and director at BET Networks, producing over 200 episodes of Rap City during hip-hop's most influential television era. His documentaries and TV specials helped shape how Black culture was represented to mainstream audiences.
Holly's Emmy Award for "Spade A Spade" (HBCU GO, 2023), where he served as Series Producer and Director, validated his innovative approach to storytelling. He also directed "Road to Homecoming" for HBCU GO and special projects for TV One, consistently demonstrating his ability to blend cultural authenticity with broadcast excellence.
As author of "AI and Black People" (October 2025), Holly addresses how artificial intelligence will impact Black creativity and opportunity. He advises tech companies on entertainment applications while helping studios navigate AI-integrated workflows—ensuring technology amplifies diverse voices rather than erases them.
A specialist in Ancient Egyptian culture and connoisseur of DC's Go-Go music, Holly's pan-African perspective informs everything he creates. At Het Ra Studios, he's creating "Spirits And Spaceships," a multi-galactic, inter-dimensional sci-fi drama series following warriors who scour galaxies and timelines to restore universal balance. Het Ra Studios is currently securing first-look and overall deals with major streaming platforms.
